Murchison Falls National Park

Situated on the Victoria Nile at 300km northwest of Kampala the Park is the largest in Uganda covering area of 3840 sq km and at an altitude of 1292m. It is one of the most exciting. The water falls for which the park was named is the most electrifying sight of its type in East Africa. The daily launch to the base of the falls gives you an opportunity to see profusion of hippos, crocodile and water birds including the elusive and bizarre shoebill, goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican, bee eater, king fisher, hornbill and cormorant. A game drive allows you a wide variety of mammal species including elephant, waterbucks, giraffe buffalos, numerous herds antelopes, leopard and lion. Budongo forest is home to chimpanzees and other primates; chimpanzee trekking can be done here.

The park is divided by the Nile River into two; the southern- Masindi District and the North- Gulu District. It's a lush plain and woodlands .The savannah grass land, accompanied by whistling acacia trees, Borusas palm trees in the northern part of the park and in the south a closed canopy forest of Rabongo area is dominated by the Iron wood.

The most common activities are game drives, sport fishing, boat rides to the bottom of the falls, Nature walks offered at the Rubongo forest, and the top of the falls.
